REGIONAL CONFERENCE

FALL 2006 Conference News

Belmont University, Vanderbilt University, and Watkins College of Art and Design are thrilled to be joining forces to host next year's regional SPE conference:

SPESC Members-

We are gearing up for the Nashville conference and would love to see you here.

We have had to make one change since the preliminary programing and we thought you should be aware of it...
We were thrilled by the amount of proposals we received for lectures and artist talks, as a result, we have had to eliminate the Saturday free time that we had originally alloted to area field trips. We do still recommend that you check out these sites on Thursday before things rev up. The Frist recommends that you call ahead for a reservation as the big Egyptian Exhibition will be in its last days and the Nashvilleans will be out in full force. The Steiglitz collection at Fisk is still under construction at this time, their renovations took longer than anticipated, so unfortunately this trip we won't be able to se it. Area galleries, The Country Music Hall of Fame, and other sites should be open for business as usual so feel free to poke around downtown before things really get going at 6:00. We will have more information available at the check-in table on Thursday for all of these possibilities.

Speaking of check-in...a conference representative will be on site at the conference hotel on Thursday, Oct. 5 from 3:00-5:30 PM to allow you to check-in and to pick up your conference materials. Please ask at the desk when you register with them and they will direct you our way. We will also have a check-in station available between 6:00 and 7:00 PM at Watkins College of Art&Design during the reception prior to Clarissa Sligh's talk on Thursday evening, and on Friday morning at Watkins College of Art&Design between 8:00 and 10:00 am. If you will be arriving at another time, please feel free to email Libby Rowe at so that she can have your welcome packet and name tag with her when you arrive. Schedule of Events

See you next week!
