Scholarships
The Scholarship Deadline for the National Conference has been extended to February 25th
SPESC Scholarship for Student Members:
Applications for student scholarships to support attendance at the National SPE Conference in San Francisco, CA are due February 25, 2012.
Purpose: SPESC offers student scholarships to encourage student participation in SPE. The scholarships are awarded to worthy students specifically to help defray travel expenses to attend an SPE conference.
Qualifications: With the support of a teacher, any students who are current members of SPE may apply for an SPESC scholarship. Preference will be given to those students who can articulately demonstrate their interest with a history of extra-curricular involvement with their photography program, with SPE and/or another relevant group or activity.
Instructions: Students must compose a formal letter of application. This letter should detail their level of education, a brief statement on their current work, their involvement with SPE and other related activities, and should state why they should be awarded a scholarship. Please attach one pdf file that includes: the letter of application (including faculty contact information) and up to 5 images of current work in one pdf file (up to six pages).
Faculty Support: While students must request support from a faculty member, faculty no longer need to write letters of support. The name and contact information from that faculty member should be included on the letter of application. The board may call faculty to elaborate on applications as needed.

Scholarship winners will be notified of their status as soon as possible. Scholarship winners will be presented with their check at the regional business meeting held during the national conference.

SPESC Assistance Grant for Adjunct Instructors:
Applications for SPESC Assistance Grants for Adjunct Instructors to support attendance at the National SPE Conference in San Francisco, CA are due February 20, 2012.
Purpose: SPESC offers assistance grants for adjunct instructors to encourage participation in SPE. The money is awarded to adjunct instructors specifically to help defray travel expenses to attend the regional SPE conference.
Qualifications: Any current SPE member who is employed during the 2011-2012 school year as an adjunct instructor in the South Central region may apply for an SPESC assistance grant. Preference will be given to those adjuncts who can articulately demonstrate their interest in attending the conference with a history of involvement with SPE. Additional preference will be given to members who have been accepted to present at the conference. Members who receive the grant will not be eligible to apply again during the following 2 school years.
Instructions: Members must compose a formal letter of application. This letter should detail their teaching experience, their involvement with SPE, their other related activities, and should state why they should be awarded a grant.
Members must also request a letter of appointment from their department. This may be sent as an attached Word or PDF document.
